Harry Marx & Nikki

Harry Marx began hunting when just a boy growing up in San Mateo. His fascination with guns increased as he grew older, became a GM dealer and reached retail proportions when he opened a gun import business inside his car dealership in Gilroy.

A member of SCI and numerous other hunting and wildlife preservation organizations, he spends time each season in the field, enjoying the camaraderie of dogs and friends. He has been a friend of the Kuechler family for many years and has enjoyed the hunt at Hastings Island with his French Brittany, Nikki, at his side. Duck season will find him at his duck club, The Loony Spoony, in Los Banos with his Lab, Molly, racing him to the blind.

Los Banos is also the location of Hi-Grade Imports, Harry’s gun shop. The shop is fascinating, filled with hunting art, books, duck decoys and big game trophies decorating the walls…and, of course, guns.

Representing Beretta, Benelli, Franchi, Stoeger, Blaser, Sauer, Mauser and Perazzi, he also imports the handcrafted shotguns by Grulla Armas, nestled in the Pyrenees in the Spanish Basque Country and is a representative for the venerable English maker, James Purdey & Sons. Harry specializes in “ready-to-hunt” big game rifles, from a 458 Lott to a BB gun! A fine collection of more than 350 new and pre-owned long guns reside in the safes at Los Banos, and Harry will present a selection of them for your enjoyment and consideration at Hastings Island Hunting Preserve on two different days this fall.
