Trap Shoot Champion
First Place 2010 Trap Shoot Winner and Defending Champion - Gino Basso!
Hastings Island Hunting Preserve hosted its Seventh Annual Competition Trap Shoot
on September 11, 2010. We had a good turnout and the competition was exciting!
Out first place winner was Gino Basso, the defending champion from 2008 and 2009.
Congratulations to Gino for his third consecutive championship! His name has been
engraved on the perpetual trophy on display in the Clubhouse.
Our compliments to all of the competitors for their involvement in this fun and
challenging shoot. We look forward to seeing everyone again next fall.
New Member Orientations
First time members (and returning members who have been inactive for more than two years)
are required to attend a New Member Orientation prior to their first hunt at the Club.
We provide free orientations to familiarize new members with the Club, our employees,
and the Rules and Regulations they will be expected to follow.
Orientation classes will be held every Saturday and Sunday through December 26, 2011.
Orientations begin promptly at 8:00AM, and last approximately 45 minutes.
Remember to sign the class register in order to receive credit for attending. Please
be sure to bring your Hunting License if you would like to pick up your Bird Card
after you have completed the class.
If you would like to attend an orientation class on a weekday or after the first
of January, please call the Club Office to make reservations.
Pheasants Forever Junior Hunt
Hastings Island Hunting Preserve and the Yolo County Pheasants Forever Junior Hunt
Program have scheduled a Youth Shoot on January 22, 2011.
Each hunt will be limited to thirty youths, age fifteen or younger, with a valid
California Junior Hunting License. Each participant will be assigned a field guide,
a dog handler and a trained hunting dog.
The field guide and dog handler will help each junior hunter learn safe, responsible
and ethical hunting practices. There will also be classes available on gun cleaning
and safety in the field.
Each youth will have an opportunity to develop their shooting skills at the trap
range and their hunting skills with live pheasants in a controlled field. After the
hunt, the Pheasants Forever volunteers will provide a barbecue lunch and raffle prizes
will be awarded.
To reserve these date for your junior hunter, or to volunteer your time and/or dog(s),
please contact Pheasants Forever at (916) 359-2368.
